Visit to the LTA Gallery

Last Friday, 20th February, P2A went on a Learning Journey at the LTA Gallery. The children were very excited and eager to learn new things about the different modes of transport in Singapore.

They learnt how the different types of transportation have evolved from the past to the present. They climbed on the rickshaw and the mosquito bus. They also tried their hands at an interactive game towards the end of the visit. The game was testing them on their decision in choosing a particular mode of transport for Singapore 2020. Should there be more roads built? How about having more underground tunnels? But wouldn't that cost a lot in building and maintenance?

It was indeed an informative trip. Here are some pictures to capture the moment:

World War II Travelling Exhibition

On 17th February 2009, Primary 5A visited Fuchun Primary School with Mrs Kris Ong to view exhibits on WW2. These exhibits were from the National Heritage Board. The students learned more about life in Singapore during the three years and eight months of Japanese rule. They were also reminded of the value of peace, freedom and humanity.

Pupils' Reflection - (TDD) Part 2

Today, we went to Fuchun Primary School for a National Education exhibition on World War II. I learnt many things about the Japanese warriors and about the money used by the Japanese. The money was called “banana money”.

Other than that, I also learnt about the five presidents of Singapore. The first president was Mr Yusof Ishak, second was Mr Benjamin Sheares, third was Mr Devir Neir, fourth was Mr Wee Kim Wee, and fifth was Mr Ong Teng Chong. Last but not least, is our current, Mr S. R. Nathan.

After the trip, I felt hungry and tired, but I enjoyed myself very much. I wish I can learn more about World War II. I will defend Singapore, my country, and my family.

Pupils' Reflection - (TDD) Part 1

I will defend my family, friends and fellow Singaporeans. If we stay united, we can defeat others easily, that is the power of teamwork. We have to stay ready and be aware of our surroundings. Do not take peace and love for granted. I will also protect my school too. Everyone has a part to play.

Reflections
1) I am very fortunate. I must treasure my life and know how lucky I am.
2) I learnt about how the Japanese fought Singapore and how some people saved the country and how banana money was used.
3) I have also learnt about how the Japanese earn more money by rising the price of food products.
